With over 2000 food businesses to work with, we are a small but busy department and we are now looking for a permanent, qualified Regulatory Officer to join our team.

You must meet the competencies sent out in the Food Law Code of Practice for a Food Safety Officer, be EHRB registered (or equivalent), hold the Higher Certificate in Food Control (or equivalent) and have recent experience of food safety enforcement gained while working within a Local Authority.

You must have the ability to deliver elements of the food safety/standards and health and safety team plan. You must have the ability to deliver elements of the food safety/standards and health and safety team plan.

You will manage your own interesting and varied caseload which includes delivery of food hygiene inspections and proactive health and safety projects, investigating accidents and food complaints. In addition, there has been a role for officers as a result of the coronavirus pandemic in relation to events, outbreak management and supporting the economy whilst protecting public health.

We are looking for an officer who is enthusiastic, innovative and will positively contribute to driving the service forward, working as an integral member of our team.

To apply for this role, you will be an Environmental Health Officer and hold registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board or equivalent. You must have good oral and written communication skills, be confident with IT applications. In addition, it is essential to possess an investigative, assertive approach to problem solving.

A valid driving licence and access to you own transport is essential. You will be expected to work out of hours on a rota basis and depending on fluctuating demands work in other aspects of Environmental Health may be necessary, enabling you to broaden you experience and maintain core skills.

Relocation support may be available to you if you are moving to the Isle of Wight to specifically to take up a frontline role with Regulatory Services. For experienced workers you may qualify for allowances up to £8,000. Alternatively, if you decide to commute to the Isle of Wight daily, you may get your travel costs reimbursed.
