The Manchester Medical Microbiology Partnership (MMMP) is collaboration between Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) and Public Health England (PHE). The microbiology partnership provides comprehensive services and specialist services to a wide range of hospitals across the North West and beyond.
Job Purpose / Summary
We are looking for a number of enthusiastic individuals to work in the laboratory where you will act as a Healthcare Scientist Support Worker (HSSW) to provide technical and clerical support to the scientific services to patients and clients as an aid to clinical diagnosis. You will be working as part of the laboratory team and will be expected rotate through various managed units within Virology, but specifically in support of testing for COVID-19. Good standard of general education i.e. GCSE’s (grade C or above) in English, maths, science or educated to NVQ 2 or equivalent level is essential. Previous laboratory experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
The successful candidate must be flexible, able to work in a team and use their own initiative.
The Laboratory operates a 7-day working week and the applicant will be required to work a maximum of 37.5 hours per week. The laboratory operates a 24-hour rota. The successful candidate will be required to work defined shifts, as required.
