Our Cambridge Office Cost Management business unit continues to grow, with specific growth demand within the Education, Science, Commercial and Healthcare markets where we have successfully secured positions with many high profile clients and some key local projects and programs in the industry. As a direct result of this growth, we are currently seeking a full time Director, with proven experience of the Education, Science and Commercial markets.
About Our Team:
We are currently an office of over 50 professionals, including 20 Cost Managers, delivering construction solutions for our diverse client base, providing a broad range of services. We strongly promote personal and career development with clear career structures and development programmes. We look to balance this with a flexible approach to working through our “Freedom to Grow” programme. We have collaborative offices located in Girton, Cambridge. We work well as a group and respect the outputs that the team deliver.
This is an excellent opportunity to be a core part of AECOM's leadership team in the East of England and continue to develop and grow an exciting team to the marketplace, with an emphasis on Education, Science and Commercial markets.
You will be primarily working alongside other Directors to successfully manage, grow and deliver cost management duties on various capital projects across the East of England.
The role will entail direct client liaising, act as the key, day to day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met and be specifically responsible for business development / winning new commissions / marketing objectives.
The role will cover the whole project lifecycle from a cost management perspective.
You should possess the skills and experience to actively lead and support the internal team, manage and mentor staff on individual projects as well as technically complex projects, typically ranging between £1m to £40m (construction cost); taking overall responsibility for their successful delivery.
To provide oversight / strategic guidance /audit & review, to a portfolio of projects being led within the East of England.
You will help develop collaborative relationships with our existing clients and other professional colleagues within the industry. Demonstrate an ability and desire to obtain increasing understanding of a client’s business, demonstrating client focus.
You will be connected, organised and self-motivated, being able to successfully work with minimum supervision.
Successful delivery of projects, ensuring tasks on projects are resourced, managed and completed efficiently, on time and with a keen desire to maintain client’s satisfaction leading to continued and further business.
Day to day main client point of contact for projects.
Be enquiring, proactive and challenge where appropriate our own existing methods / processes to demonstrate value for money to the client.
Be the primary interface with AECOM clients (new and existing) with an emphasis on Education, Science and Commercial markets.
Proven ability of strong client relations, ability to actively provide business development opportunities with existing and new clients, ensuring these are identified and acted upon and generate winning new commissions.
Proven ability to lead, manage and deliver business development opportunities through writing and converting bid commissions, to the right quality standards and completed efficiently and on time.
To ‘win’ clients through strong business development skills.
Proven leadership within cost management business and provide leadership, management and mentoring to the team.
Proven ability to develop long term relationships with all team members, and effectively balance people and processes.
Manage the delivery of cost management outputs in accordance with agreed time-scales and quality standards.
Co-ordination and sign-off on all information produced by the cost management team prior to formal issue externally.
You will ideally be a self-motivated individual from a consultancy or client organisation background with the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
Proven experience in a consulting environment/client organisation providing the full spectrum of Cost Management services.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are key.
Significant experience of Education, Science and Commercial projects and clients is a priority.
Experience at a leadership level / acting in a leadership capacity in a comparative business;
Proven track record of winning new work from new clients and repeat work from existing clients.
Proven experience of strong client relationships and network of contacts with emphasis on the Education, Science and Commercial markets.
Track record of leading and managing teams
Highly motivated and with excellent industry network;
Excellent communication and organisational skills;
Significant experience of Education, Science and Commercial projects.
Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
Professional Qualified – Chartered Status with the RICS or other equivalent institution.
Full clean UK driving license, and a willingness to travel.
CSCS card holder.
