Cheshire East Council is looking for an experienced and self motivated Grade 10 Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Social Worker or a Grade 9 Social Worker willing to train as an AMHP, to work within our Community Mental Health Team based in Crewe. You will be required to have post qualifying experience of working directly with those who have mental health needs. For an experienced Social Worker you should be able to undertake person centred and strength based assessments, in accordance with the Care Act 2014 with adults and older persons, either within the individual's own home, hospital, supported accommodation or residential/nursing facilities. You will be required to have a good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Best Interests and Safeguarding.

Cheshire East Council is looking for an experienced and self motivated AMHP/Social Worker to work within our Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). You will need post qualifying experience of working with individuals with mental health needs and be able to undertake person centred and strengths based assessments either within the individual's own home, hospital or in supported accommodation/ residential or nursing settings. You will be responsible for a caseload of service users with mental health and social care needs, supporting them in line with the recovery model, alongside assessing and reviewing new and ongoing social care needs and assessing needs of carers and family members.
You also need to have a good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Best Interests and Safeguarding, and be able to lead on Section 42 Safeguarding enquiries in accordance with the Care Act 2014.
The CMHT operate a busy duty system and you will be required to contribute to this rota alongside nursing staff. This role requires a person to be able to make decisions quickly, be able to delegate effectively and prioritise urgent work over routine.
A willingness to undertake Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) training is required and upon completion of the training payscale will increase to Grade 10 and you will undertake Mental Health Act assessments as part of an AMHP rota - unless already a qualified AMHP.
