Apply for this jobThis operational role will lead the Operational Resilience capability across the Close Brothers Group. In the near term, this will involve leading the development and rollout of the group’s response to new regulation, and overseeing the ‘pivot’ from traditional Business Continuity Management towards the new approach. This will include finalising and maintaining the methodology around the emerging regulation, and ensuring a coherent strategy across all business services.
The role is also responsible for leading and optimising all BAU resilience activities. This includes overseeing execution of exercise regimes, maintenance of BIAs and recovery plans, with the goal of ensuring the Group has the ability to adapt expediently to business disruptions while maintaining continuous operations and safeguarding its people, assets and customers. The scope includes crisis management, workspace recovery, 3rd party planning, technology disaster recovery, and people.
The role is in the group’s 1st line of defence, focussing on co-ordination within a matrix organisation across the group, and delivery within the Bank. It is supported by 2nd and 3rd line functions in Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit.
As a member of the S&R leadership team, this role will contribute to the overall Security & Resilience strategy for Close Brothers, act as a role model for the function and support with embedding an engaging and high performing culture.
Business Resilience Strategy
Drive and optimise the Business Resilience Strategy to enable the Group Business Strategy Provide thought- and operational- leadership on resilience Lead on maintaining and embedding the Group Business Resilience Strategy, supported by 2nd line of defence Ensure the organisation can identify, assess, and maintain the appropriate level of resilience in all resources and supporting capabilities that underpin our Important Business Services Own and drive the Resilience roadmap Evangelise and maintain awareness to support “resilience-by-design” throughout the group
Business Resilience Delivery
Ensure day-to-day adequacy of BIAs, resource/capability maps for important business services, the inherent resilience of those resources and capabilities.
Oversee the maintenance of recovery plans such that impact tolerances and other stakeholder commitments can be achieved in an agreed set of broad failure scenarios Own, maintain and deliver testing / exercising schedules including crisis management, IT-DR, workspace recovery, 3rd party resilience assurance and people / teams. Provide relevant and actionable reporting to business leaders including resource and capability owners, c-suite stakeholders, and the board. Play a co-ordinating role in executing incident and crisis management plans in conjunction with crisis management teams. Be a calm and credible ‘figurehead’ that people will trust in times of crisis.
