The Job

Purpose of role:

• To support the delivery of the MLU Weapon Engineering Modifications and Refit Activities through functional management of the engineering team to progress MDSCIs and CRs in accordance with the performance timescales.
• To assist the production team in Saudi to capture and assess engineering issues at the waterfront.
• To project manage assigned Modifications and cover the day to day workload for Modifications, as directed by line management.

Key Technical Skills

• Ideally conversant with the writing of Design Guidance for ships Excellent knowledge of ship borne
• External Communications, Radar, Echo Sounders.
• Able to produce and undertake Design Reviews Understand the importance of good Requirement Management
• Able to understand and review technical Handbooks and drawings
• Able to understand and answer technical queried from waterfront or OEM
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, with particular emphasis on MS Excel and Word Broad understanding of engineering products including safety, terminology, lifecycle characteristics and ability to read technical drawings
• Understanding of current RN Engineering standards. Understanding of BAE Systems Engineering & Safety Governance.

• An understanding of industry and MoD design / safety management tools and processes
• Knowledge of the Engineering/ILS/Support industry;
• Awareness of BAES or similar engineering and project governance processes;
• Awareness of the MOD/RN engineering and project processes and procedures;
• An understanding of the defence maritime industry;
• An understanding of matrix management in a complex operational environment;
• Understanding of company Engineering processes and ability to relate and align them to Babcock processes;
• An understanding of the immediate COM and wider business goals;
• An understanding and experience of the defence maritime industry, especially the MoD Maritime structure and departments;
• Knowledge of key company and MoD processes.
