Planner / Senior Planner

We are pleased to be representing one of the UK’s leading house builders as they look to recruit a Senior Planner/Planner to join the busy Planning Team

Your New Role

As a Planner/Senior Planner based within the Technical Department, the role will be to take the responsibility for, and manage projects from identifying new development opportunities and local plan promotion to securing planning permission for residential led developments of varying scales and complexity.

Much of the work is done in-house including writing Local Plan representations and supporting planning application documents such as Design and Access Statements; project managing consultants and design team; negotiating with the Local Authority and statutory consultees; organising consultation events and presenting to Parish Councils and planning committee.

The Senior Planner role would suit a candidate with sufficient experience to independently oversee the day-to-day management of major projects and advise on strategy. The Planner role would suit a candidate who could manage smaller scale or less complex planning and reserved matters applications.

The role would suit self-motivated and ambitious individuals who are keen to build their career within a fast-paced commercial environment. The role is wide and varied and will require a high standard of written communication, inter-personal skills and commercial awareness with the ability to adapt to change and to work accurately and efficiently under time pressure. The successful candidate should have a degree and be RTPI qualified or working towards qualification and possess a rounded knowledge of planning.

Key Activities

• Identify new development opportunities
• Undertake site assessments for development potential
• Monitoring of Local Plans, promotion of sites and writing Local Plan representations
• Submission of planning applications and securing planning permissions for residential led developments of varying scales and complexity
• Preparation of planning application documents such as Design and Access Statements; project managing consultants and design team; negotiating with the Local Authority and statutory consultees; organising consultation events and presenting to Parish Councils and planning committee.
• Discharge of Planning conditions, Non material amendments and handling of planning appeals

In return you will receive a salary in the region of £30,000 - £45,000 per annum plus a company car / car allowance
