At Assist & Care, we aim to deliver the daily assistance people require, allowing them to remain living independently in their own homes for as long as possible. As an apprentice you will help care for these people, offering them support.
A driving licence and own transport are required for this role, as you will be working in various locations in and around South Manchester, in the client’s own homes.Duties cover Companionship, Home Help and Personal Care:
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Offer companionship and conversation
Monitor diet and eating
Provide medication reminders
Stimulate and encourage through a variety of activities
Arrange appointments, activities, and outings
Organize mail and write letters
Assist with walking (lending an arm to steady)
Accompany to appointments and social events
Run errands/collect prescriptions etc
Provide light housekeeping/complete laundry
Make beds/change linen
Organize and tidy cupboards
Plan, prepare and tidy away meals
Answer the door
Assist with pet care
Help with shopping
Help with bathing, dressing, and grooming
Help with continence care
Assist to eat and drink
Provide dementia/ Alzheimer care
Provide respite/convalescence care
Person Specification (desirable skills):
Works well with others
Willing to learn
Personal Qualities (essential):
Uses their own initiative
Very confident working alone
Must have an excellent level of written and spoken English
Salary varies depending on hours worked:
£8.50 per hour during the week
£9.50 per hour during the weekend
1 hour paid holiday leave accrued for every 8.25 hours worked
A car is required as you will be working in various locations in and around South Manchester, in the client’s own homes.
The role is subject to a DBS check.
As part of this role, you will work towards completing a Level 2 Care qualification.
Prospects: There is availability to progress within the company as a care assistant, on-call supervisor, team leader or coordinator.
