Marketing Data Analyst - Marketing Operations
The Role
We’re looking for a data scientist who thinks in a clear and organised way to help the marketing team tackle challenging business problems with data and a mathematical approach. The right candidate would be able to work under time-pressure to generate accurate insights and often present complex analysis. The ability to explain complicated concepts to non-technical stakeholders and thinking creatively about problem-solving would be critical.
You’ll work on a wide range of data challenges: data mining, customer insights, A/B test results, competitor reports, effect of marketing campaigns, forecasting models, creating new reporting dashboards targeting and segmentation, data flows, integration and reporting and much, much more.
Key responsibilities
- The role involves evaluating and improving business processes and products using scientific rigour and statistical methods.
- Working with large data sets, you will understanding customer interactions, develop predictive models and helping the organisation in creating automated data solutions to aid decision-making.
- You will be manipulating complex datasets using a range of tools such as SQL across multiple brands and products.
- Perform analysis across a variety of data topics and help solve challenges such as interpreting split test results, predicting behaviours and finding top performing segments.
- You’ll identify and deliver opportunities to support the strategic direction through the better use of data
- Identifying new methods, tools, techniques and opportunities to deliver business value by reducing costs, generating income or improving the customer experience through applying data science
Data and Technical Experience
- Strong commercial experience querying, analysing and providing insights from large complex datasets.
- Advanced SQL: analytic functions, performance tuning, data wrangling.
- A fundamental understanding of ETL to perform effective database querying involving multiple data tables.
- Understanding of Data Warehouse Architecture, Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), both multi-dimensional and tabular.
- Highly skilled in manipulating data in Excel for analytical purposes including knowledge and experience of advanced formulas, data transformation handling large datasets, tables and formatting, conditional formatting etc.
- Knowledge of industry trends and developments including GDPR, Legitimate Interest and Consent based marketing
A bit about you
- Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst - 4+ years of experience in analytics, ideally 2 years in marketing related analytics work and performance reporting.
- The ability to articulate and translate business questions and use statistical techniques to resolve data analysis problems.
- Experience in presenting findings to varying audiences (technical and non-technical stakeholders) and catering presentation style appropriately.
- A strong attention to detail and a clear and concise writing style.
Based in Manchester or London, with some flexibility of home working.
