Business Intelligence Analyst

About the role
We are looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team on a fixed-term contract for a minimum of 6 months but is likely to be longer.
As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will be collecting, analysing and interpreting raw data using Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Power BI Software. This will include interpreting trends or patterns into complex data sets and translating the data into visual information by preparing dashboards and reports.
In order to carry out this role effectively, you will work closely with the internal management team, as well as interacting with individual team members, so good communication skills are essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with the internal management team to identify reporting requirements
- Helping to maintain and evolve a template-based approach to the analytics platform
- Working alongside the BI team to deliver accurate data for stunning visualisations
- Developing Power BI dashboards to support data-driven decision making
- Setting up and maintaining automated reporting processes
- Extracting and integrating large datasets from multiple sources
Who we are looking for:
Essential skills and experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a BI specialist role, with a strong understanding of Power BI, including DAX and Power Query M languages
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop and present clear and insightful reports to stakeholders
- Knowledge of relational databases and SQL queries
- Understand and design Power BI reporting architecture
- Experience with ETL tools
Desirable skills and experience
- Understand and design T-SQL data extraction tools
- Experience of extracting and transforming data from an ERP system
- Advanced Excel and VBA skills
