About the opportunity:
You will join our Water, Energy & Environment business, which is recognised as the No.1 Environmental Consultancy in the UK by Environment Analyst.
Our work focuses on providing solutions to future challenges such as climate change, the need for renewable energy, low carbon economies, transportation, and material resource and waste management. While we shape some of the very largest and most challenging landmark projects in the UK, we also deliver local projects that protect communities. We lead with the environment, and make social and natural capital central to how we solve our clients' challenges. We are helping to create the sustainable and resilient cities and communities of the future, making attractive places for all to live and work.
We are also at the forefront of developing best practice and pragmatic approaches to the delivery of environmental assessments and consents and have extensive capability in EIA, SEA, IIA, Health and Sustainability Appraisals across the full project cycle.
Our team works with a number of key clients, supporting them with their WRMP development and review, AMP7 Capital Delivery and Strategic Resource Options commitments.
We are at the forefront of supporting our clients with their current water resource planning, capital delivery programmes and major projects, some of which are complex Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) and require SEA, EIA and specialist discipline input across the full project cycle.
We are looking for individuals with a proven track record in environmental leadership roles for major water sector projects to join our team on some of the largest, most complex and exciting projects in the UK. You will have a key role in major project delivery, working closely with our clients and leading our environmental assessment and consents workstreams. Your experience will enable you to identify and manage risks to project delivery and maximise opportunities for efficiencies, promote innovation, provide mentorship and support technical development of our staff. You will bring strong professional relationships, provide thought leadership, support profile raising activities, and manage and develop positive relationships with our clients. You will provide strategic leadership and guidance to the water sector environmental management team.

- A degree in a relevant discipline.
- Knowledge and experience of the UK water sector, specifically experience of WRMP production, AMP capital delivery programmes and regional water resource groups. Although not essential, knowledge and experience of Strategic Resource Options projects would be advantageous.
- Expert understanding and experience of the applicable environmental legislation, the EIA process, assessment methodologies, and best practice approaches for EIAs and ESs.
- Knowledge and understanding of consenting regimes, such as the Planning Act/Development Consent Orders (DCO), Transport & Works Act, and Town & Country Planning Act.
- Experience in leading multi-disciplinary environmental teams and providing liaison and integration across project elements.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability and experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including public and statutory consultees.
