About the Role

We are currently looking for a Fashion Designer Intern who has knowledge about current fashion trends. You will be working alongside the Creative Team to help create an innovative project. This role will give you the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks and gain valuable experience in this field. As a fashion designer, you'll research the fashion trends, forecasting what will be popular, and take inspiration from the world around you to create fresh and original designs.

Keep up to date with emerging fashion trends as well as general trends relating to fabrics, colours, and shapes
Plan and develop ranges, often based on a theme
Work with others in the design team, such as buyers and forecasters, to develop products to meet a brief
Understand design from a technical perspective, i.e. producing patterns and technical specifications for designs
Adapt existing designs for mass production
Develop a pattern that is cut and sewn into sample garments and supervise the creation of these, including fitting, detailing, and adaptations
Work with models to try out your designs and to wear them on the catwalk at fashion shows.

Fashion design is a very competitive industry and you'll typically need a degree or foundation degree in a subject that combines both technical and design skills.
Relevant subjects include:

garment technology
graphic design

You'll need to show:
creativity, innovation, and flair
an eye for colour and a feel for fabrics and materials
the ability to generate ideas and concepts, use your initiative and think outside the box

You need to be based in the Greater London area. Unfortunately, we are not evaluating if you are currently living outside London
Must have your own laptop which you can use and bring to work
We are looking for someone who can join on an immediate basis.

Who are we?

Humanitarian Operations (HOPE) started as a ‘First Responder Disaster Relief Agency’ on September 1st, 2004, when the Bahamian Government became overwhelmed by the disaster and destruction caused by Hurricane Frances. The team has operated and provided much-needed assistance in every major disaster location since its formation, including the Haitian Earthquake, the Indian Ocean Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, and the floods in India. It is impossible to quantify the number of lives that have been saved.

Humanitarian Operations is now branching into our second mission; to eradicate educational inequality. We aim to make education widely available to every child in the world, regardless of their background or location, and without prejudice. We are growing our team and looking for like-minded individuals to bring their skills to push our mission forward.
