SUMMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To support the Biotech Product Engineering group in the technical aspects of Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM), within NPI, Sustaining and Process/Product Improvements including both Biotechnology products and Biotechnology specific processes as required. The job holder will be required to support Product Engineering team by performing and documenting product specifications, training instructions, DOE's, validation studies, product failure investigations, problem-solving activities and change management, in accordance with Pall procedures. MAIN DUTIES: - Introduce new Filtration products by team working with R&D, Marketing and Manufacturing in accordance with the Stage Gate Process or Redevelopment of existing products post launch based on volume or other needs. - Provide progress reports as part of Product Engineer projects and organise development and qualification batches. - Perform and report on product / process validation activities and failure mode analysis of filters. - Carrying out DOE's and validation activities for new product & equipment introductions. - Support the Product Engineering team with the writing of product specification, training materials, validation documents and Engineering study reports. - Support Product Engineering team in investigating customer complaints. - Collate and provide quality performance data in support of new product introductions, product developments / improvements, line transfers and material qualifications. - Take part in "focus team meetings" on new product / process introductions, developments & improvements - be prepared to present details from manufacturing. - Solve problems by using 6 sigma tools, trend analysis, Design of Experiments, FMEA, process risk assessments etc. - Update CAD drawings relating to components and tooling. - Support the design and process Risk Assessment process on product developments / improvements. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Formal Engineering Qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent) and subsequent experience.Any formal training and qualification in Six Sigma techniques would be an advantage.Knowledge of new product development techniques or product / process improvement techniques.Familiar with process validation procedures and techniques, e.g. Process and product FMEA, Ishikawa diagrams, Pareto analysis, parts and process capability studies.Awareness of Factory Acceptance Tests and validation (IQ, OQ and PQ) documents for new products, processes and equipment.Ability to work as a team member towards completion of allocated projects.Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.Experience from a medical device or Bio-Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Industry would be a bonus.
