To use a breadth of technical knowledge to review, analyse and challenge Solvency II and other financial results. To support the Actuarial Head of Results and Analysis in managing key stakeholder relationships and preparing key communications (including Board reports) presenting these to senior audiences. What will you bring? Key Accountabilities: - To be responsible for reviewing, analysing and challenging all elements of Pillar I Solvency II reporting including: - Internal Model balance sheet - Transitional Measures on Technical Provisions (including ICA calculations) - Capital forecasts - Analyses of change - Profit & Loss Attribution - Stress & Scenario analyses - Standard Formula balance sheet - Economic Capital balance sheet The review will involve a wide range of analysis techniques and providing industry insight. - To be responsible for working with the Risk team to agree input to the Pillar II Solvency II reporting (ORSA). To review the input including providing industry insights into ORSA developments. - To be responsible for reviewing Pillar III Solvency II reporting (including quarterly QRT's, annual QRT's, the SFCR and RSR), keeping up to date with industry developments, preparing responses to PRA questions on QRT's and working closely with the wider business. - To play a review role in the USGAAP, UKGAAP and Claims MI reporting processes, including input into the business plan as required. - To assess and interpret balance sheet results to provide insight into the performance of the business, recommending business action as appropriate. - To play a key role in communication with stakeholders. Prepare clear Board and Board Committee reports, and present these to Capital Management Group and RCSC. - To play a lead role in analysing regulatory developments and developing implementation plans. Oversee the implementation of such developments. - To review the implementation of any future changes in the risk profile, for example any new reinsurance arrangements or new investment initiatives. - To play a key role in other projects in the business as required. Oversee the implementation of such projects in the reporting processes. - Play a lead role in pro-actively developing processes within the team. - To manage relationships with the Line 2 validation team, Internal Audit and external auditors as required. - To provide line management, guidance and coaching for actuarial students and newly qualified actuaries within the Actuarial Results & Analysis team, as required. - Ensure the continued protection of Unum's information, by following all applicable Information Security policies and procedures and by reporting suspected weaknesses in information security controls to the Information Security Officer. - Embed and contribute to the Conduct Risk Framework, wider Solvency II systems of governance principles, Treating Customers Fairly requirements and the Risk Management Framework as it applies to the role and divisional activities and drive improvements as required. - Comply with Unum's Code of Conduct and other Company Policies and Procedures as appropriate to the role. Required Knowledge and Skills: - Qualified Actuary with significant PQE. - Detailed knowledge of the life (and/or health) insurance industry including knowledge of life insurance valuation reporting, covering both Solvency I and Solvency II reporting. - Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead relationships with other teams and produce clear and concise Board reports, ensuring excellent levels of verbal and written communication at all times. - Highly numerate with good IT skills - The ability to work under pressure, deliver expected results and managing competing and conflicting demands within the workload. - The ability to apply new ideas and approaches to business needs, and provide external industry insights. - Experience managing an actuarial team providing on the job and career coaching to both student and qualified actuaries. #LI-EM1 Why join us?
