General Description

St Thomas More Catholic School is seeking to appoint an effective Pastoral Support Coordinator to support in maintaining high standards of behaviour and support students in developing excellent learning habits. The successful candidate will establish positive relationships with students, parents, carers, staff and outside agencies in line with the school’s vision and values. You will need strength of character and determination, the ability to multitask under pressure, and the skills and attributes to deal with vulnerable pupils.

The Pastoral Support Coordinator will work with the school’s pastoral team including the Deputy Head Teacher, Assistant Head Teacher, Heads of House and the Attendance and Welfare Officer in order to promote the positive behaviour of pupils and ensure that behaviour and pastoral related policies are effectively implemented.

The Pastoral Support Coordinator will manage the school’s internal exclusion unit and monitor lateness. You will also carry out supervision duties as part of the school pastoral team before school, after school, break times and lunchtimes in order to manage the behaviour of pupils during these more unstructured times of the school day. It is desirable that candidates have experience working with pupils who have behaviours that are challenging.
