We are currently seeking a Creative Director on our AR/VR Avatars team to partner with art directors, designers, producers, researchers, and product marketers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with virtual characters for real time and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative, semi-structured environment. This person must be comfortable guiding teams and production partners and should be willing to roll up their sleeves to do the work when necessary.
Creative Director, FRL Avatars Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of art leads and artists who are chartered with defining the visual targets and the execution of art assets for the variety of projects within the AR/VR Experiences team
Recruit and hire talented contributors
Establish review processes within the team and key stakeholders
Engage with PMs, Designers and Eng & Art Leads to define the art pipelines and components, scope and goals for key features within our various projects
Collaborate with XFN teams to determine mutual vision and goals for in-common product features
Leadership experience and the ability to motivate, challenge, and grow a creative team
Partner with leads on the strategic and creative direction of our Avatars across Facebook products
Inspire the creative team to be passionate and ambitious in their work
Maintain and manage consistency of quality across the team
Effectively influence leaders and key partners across Facebook products to gain alignment and communicate with conviction
Direct inclusive representation for avatars across our family of applications
Art team management experience in game development
Experience creating digital content with specific expertise in mobile
Highly strategic thinker and communicator
Ability to work cross-functionally, balance the needs of stakeholders, and break down complex narratives into simple, compelling ideas
Demonstrated ability to recruit and manage art pipelines and contributors from leadership to potential external sources
Experience providing direction on the visual and content strategy
Has a foundation in 3D characters systems and a good understanding of technical challenges for creating character based mobile or real-time products
Able to spot trends and understand popular culture in the global media landscape
Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex, sometimes abstract, concepts clearly and persuasively
Experience in 3D immersive software development – games & VR experience a plus
Experience with a range of production toolsets and knowledge of 3D Art Tools (e.g. Shotgun, Jira, Trello, Pshop, Maya, Modo other)
