We are looking for a Hardware Technical Authority to join Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth. You will join our Telecom Payload Engineering group and report to the Head of Payload Product.
Your main mission is to bring expertise and seniority, to ensure quality of designs and builds. As a Technical Authority, you will commit decisions considering technical and industrial aspects without complacency, on quality and with final customers trust.
You will propose preventive actions for the equipment design and production robustness and lead technical issues resolution, in strong collaboration with other experts when needed.
You will be involved in various phases including proposals, product development / evolution, anomalies / non-conformity at equipment, satellite, AIT and up to in-orbit lifetime. You will also contribute to the development, design, test, to qualify, to certify, to support, to improve system, sub-system, equipment, component or module during the whole implementation phase (including responsibility for integration, verification and validation) by writing technical documents (specifications, failure mode analysis, functional descriptions, sizing documents, stress analysis, test analysis, etc).
You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
Tasks and Responsibilities
Assess electronics design robustness through Design Reviews, to understand design criticality and technological challenges. This will include schematics reviews, Worst Case and Parts Stress analyses assessment, Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis outcomes (including impacts at system level, failure propagation assessment, protections independence, etc), design robustness to radiation space environment including Single Events Effects (SEE) and Double insulation implementation.
Endorse key development documents (Equipment specifications) and reviews (Design and Qualification)
Technically lead NRBs (Non-conformance Review Board) ensuring quick identification and rating of technical risks and drive technical dispositions.
Lead investigations into any non quality issues arising at system or equipment level. This can be customer facing and technical solutions will need to be presented clearly and confidently
Oversee technical lessons learnt
Working as part of a small team connected to a wider Technical Authority network
Identify risks, and have the ability to judge the acceptability of such risks, or define mitigating actions
Proactively share knowledge and contribute to capitalise expertise
Interface with different entities (engineering, products, supply, experts, and project teams) and several final customers, building strong working relationships
Work closely (from both an industrial and functional design view) with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and any other disciplines involved throughout the whole product lifecycle, from the very early stages of the design through to the serial production phase and up to the in-service life of the product (whole product lifecycle)
You may be required to spend short periods of time working at the Toulouse Airbus Defence and Space site and possibly on customers’ sites
Required Skills and Experience
A background and experience in electronics equipment
Strong understanding of the activities of the development life cycle that are necessary to develop a system/product, which also provide the level of confidence for the solution which are consistent with regulation and program requirements
Appreciation of a wide technical spectrum, including electronics, physics, EEE, Equipment processes, radiation, EMC, RF, etc,
Knowledge of space environment constraints.
Understanding of technical solutions from component level to system level, used for high power systems, low noise systems, frequency converters, DCDC converters, oscillators, etc
Good working knowledge of measurement techniques and the uncertainties related to them
