Foundation Learning delivers a wide range of inspiring, innovative and high-quality individualised programmes for students who have previously had difficulties in engaging with education and have experienced a whole range of barriers to their learning. Students have a diverse range of barriers that include; severe, profound and complex learning difficulties (PCLD), moderate or specific learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health difficulties and/or physical/sensory impairment. Students often have had a previous history of failure and/or negative experiences of education.
The area prides itself on providing young people with SEND the attitude, commitment, resilience and determination they need to succeed in transitioning into work and/or adult life. Staff are highly trained and well qualified and provide ambitious programmes of study that empower students to overcome their barriers and achieve sustainable aspirations. Once a student is fully engaged their programme will be adapted and differentiated by level and vocational focus. Each student negotiates a personalised timetable incorporating their learning goals and with their personal tutor in order to achieve success.
