The school is approximately 8 miles from the city centre (20-minute drive) and located in the Dudley area.
Your New Role
You will be required to work as a Teaching Assistant within KS2. This is an important role in supporting the teacher and helping the children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom. The planning of learning activities under the direction of the teacher, making sure that the pupils you support can engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson / activity so that they can become independent learners. As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you are only a support to the teacher and will not need to control a class all by yourself. However, you may be responsible for working 1 to 1 with pupils or in small groups to provide more direct teaching.
This school has over 600 pupils which means every year has large classes. Therefore, you should have strong communication skills and be dedicated to ensuring pupils receive support with any issues they may have as well as the overall academic progression of children.
To start with, this will be a temporary role beginning in September 2021, however, we do have a strong relationship with this school who a relying on us to provide potential permanent members of staff at the school. This will be a full-time role, working hours being 8:30 - 3:30. However, training sessions (which you may be invited to) may go on up until 4:30 once every half term.
What you'll need to succeed
You should have recent experience within a classroom setting in the last 2 years & previous experience in KS2. Experience in Year 6 SATS is desirable but not required. This job is also open to NQT'S/ECT's. You will need a Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification. You will need to be confident and engaging whilst demonstrating a professional manner. You will need strong communication skills, especially when working with groups of children. You must be able to challenge and encourage the pupils to achieve their best and be a caring individual who is prepared to go the extra mile.
You will also need to provide references that cover at least 40 days in a school within the last 2 years.
