Hays are recruiting on behalf of a Secondary School in Blackburn who are seeking a Teaching Assistant for the remainder of the academic year (12 month contract). The school itself if OFTSED outstanding and widely regarded as one of the best secondary schools in Lancashire. The senior leadership team is established and supportive; The Headteacher will assign the successful applicant a mentor (usually a senior teacher) who will guide you through the challenges of the role and aid in your progression.
Your new role
In your new role as a Teaching Assistant, you will offer support to lower ability and SEND registered pupils from year 7 to year 9 (KS3). This will involve 1:1 responsibilities and intervention sessions, where you will take a small group of students out of the class and support them with core subjects like Mathematics, English and Science. Other responsibilities will include helping class teachers with lesson planning (around the needs of students) and classroom preparation.
This role will be a long-term contract until the end of the academic year, working through Hays. What you'll need to succeed
The successful applicant will have a minimum of 4 weeks experience working with children in the past 5 years. Previous work as a Teaching Assistant would be beneficial, but isn't essential as the school values attitude and passion over experience. The perfect candidate would be somebody who has a can-do attitude, with a passion for working in an education setting.
