Methods Analytics are currently recruiting for Mid-Senior Business Analysts to join our team on a permanent basis. This role will require flexibility to travel to client sites, and is expected to be based in Sheffield, Bristol or London.

Methods Analytics provide strategic and operational intelligence concerning the activity, quality and safety of Healthcare services. Our team is comprised of highly qualified and experienced information and analytics specialists. Our focus is the healthcare market in the UK, however, we also work with a wide range of public and private sector clients including local and central government.

We deliver actionable knowledge on population provision, activity and outcomes to the public, commissioners, providers, policy makers and commercial organisations. As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for eliciting the actual needs of stakeholders. This will frequently involve investigating and clarifying their expressed desires in order to determine underlying potential issues and causes of misunderstanding. The Business analyst will also play a role in aligning any designed and delivered solutions with the needs of stakeholders in the context of strategic goals and industry best practice.

As a business analyst you will work within the organisation, either on client projects or internal deliverables helping to manage, change and plan in line with local goals and strategic objectives. The work could be for one specific project, or as a permanent feature of the organisation.

Our broad expectation of our Business Analyst is that the successful candidate will identify and support business change through a full Data transformation or software development cycle. This includes assessing impact, developing features, communicating user stories and overseeing the quality and implementation of solutions.

The Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in the delivery, working closely with the Product Owner, Development Teams, Data Scientists and other stakeholders to understand the complexity of delivery but translated into clear and simple communications and document business needs and opportunities in order to create value for customers of the product or service.

You will also play a key role in communicating between internal departments and external parties, acting as a 'translator' where necessary to convey how information technology can support the organisation's needs.

The Business Analyst will:

  • Collaborate with internal colleagues to understand the needs of departments and the organisation as a whole.
  • Work with external stakeholders to understand and investigate feedback into the service, function or product provided.
  • Use data modelling practices to analyse your findings and create suggestions for strategic and operational improvements and changes.
  • Identify the processes and information technology required to introduce your recommendations.
  • Consider opportunities and potential risks attached to suggestions you make.
  • Apply methods and insights to provide data driven recommendations to the business. Communicate the benefits of your recommendations across departments and help to address any concerns.
  • Produce written documentation to support your work, report on your findings and present to stakeholders when necessary.
  • Support staff and teams in making your recommended changes, including helping to resolve any issues.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • Experience of working in an Agile project delivery team delivering a product or service.
  • Experienced in stakeholder management, presentation, and communication skill
  • Knowledge/experience of eliciting functional and non-functional requirements using a range of techniques (e.g. workshops, interviews, workflow mapping etc.) and translate them into precise and actionable stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Knowledge/experience of developing and managing Epics / User Stories / Features/ Backlogs.
  • Experience facilitating agile ceremonies, encouraging engagement and discussion.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Knowledge/experience of Power BI, Tableau or other similar BI Tools.
  • Understanding of relational database modelling, analysis, optimization, star schema/ snowflake models, ETL, normalization, complex SQL queries, stored procedure, automation scripting.
  • Understanding of Azure, AWS or other similar cloud platforms.
  • Awareness of Data Science, AI and big data principals.
  • Knowledge/experience of test condition requirements and know how to work according to test plans to design, interpret and execute them.
  • Demonstrate a structured approach to analysis and documentation, using recognised tools and techniques.
  • Able to investigate new technologies and propose new functionalities to existing or new products.
  • Able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision in a deadline-driven environment.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience of Business Analysis planning and monitoring
  • Understanding of Coding and Development cycles.
  • Knowledge/experience of using JIRA, MIRO, Visio or an equivalent issue tracking tool
  • Knowledge/experience of using T-SQL, Python, R or other programming languages.
  • Understanding of Data Architecture Principles and ITIL Framework.
  • Relevant professional development certification or course completion
