Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a proactive CAD Technician to join our growing Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Arboricultural team in our Plymouth office (or for the right candidate to be located remotely in another one of our Southern offices). This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on projects of all scales within a friendly and supportive team. The work is highly varied, and you will be required to support our consultants on a range of types and sizes of projects.
We are looking for a team player who has a keen interest in developing themselves within our industry and has a passion and flair for computer aided design and developing innovative solutions to improve efficiency. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team.
We operate from a modern, well-connected office (7-minute drive from Plymouth station), but also support home working with all employees being provided with a high spec laptop and iPhone. We work in dynamic and challenging environments, in multi-disciplinary teams delivering solutions to a broad base of public and private sector clients (including Highways England, the Environment Agency, Local Authorities, the National Trust, and educational institutions). Job Responsibilities:
- Production of Autodesk AutoCAD based drawings for the purposes of illustrating Tree Constraint and Protection measures, detailed Landscape Hard/Soft Designs and Landscape Visual Impact Assessment plans.
- Use of Esri GIS applications to QA, check and process incoming survey data.
- Use of Bentley ProjectWise file management system.
- Preparation of information for planning applications, detailed design and subsequent construction information.
- Participation within team/project calls and meetings.
Job Requirements:
- An aptitude towards good logic, problem solving and strong organisational skills.
- An interest in and a desire to pursue a career in CAD and the Built Environment Consultancy industry.
- Solid technical and communication skills.
- Good AutoCAD and/or GIS skills as well as attention to detail and familiar with file naming and filing conventions either via previous work experience or personal development.
- Good Microsoft Office skills essential such as Word & Excel.
- You should have an Interest in environmental design from concept to detailed stages.
- Ability to deliver CAD requirements to the team, and successfully manage time to meet project deadlines.
- A hard working and highly self-motivated individual with excellent communication and good grasp of maths and the English language.
- Client focused with good interpersonal skills and team approach willing to contribute to project success.
- You will be able to demonstrate experience or understanding of Health and Safety compliance.
- Understanding and experience of BIM is desirable.
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to continued education and improvement through participating in our approved training schemes.
Minimum Requirements
