Events Officer A mixture of working from home and from our office in Burford, Oxfordshire Fixed term contract, approx. 13 months maternity cover, full time
We are one of the UK’s leading rehoming organisations for animals. We support sick, injured and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes. The Events team develop and manage a wide portfolio of events both virtually and across the UK to engage our supporters and provide them with opportunities to fundraise for the pets.
What is the role? This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has experience in event fundraising to join our Events team. You’ll be leading the way by project managing a number of challenge events from virtual ones like Rescue Run to physical ones including the London Marathon. With a good understanding of event planning and marketing, as well as great organisation and the ability to provide excellent customer service, you’ll be responsible for recruiting participants for these events and building relationships with our wonderful supporters as you steward them, helping to take their fundraising to the next level no matter which activity they choose to take part in.
The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and enjoy working on a wide range of projects simultaneously. You’ll have an eye for detail and an ear to the ground, listening for the latest trends in events fundraising so you can innovate and develop new ideas that increase the return on investment within the events team.
This role is a fixed term contract for approximately 13 months maternity cover, working full-time of 35 hours per week Monday to Friday. You will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends to help deliver events when needed. We are currently trialling a hybrid working scheme where you need to work a minimum of two days a week in the office and the other days be home-based.
What is required? We are looking for people with the following: • Full driving licence • Proven experience working in event fundraising • Demonstrable experience of researching, planning, delivering and evaluating a range of fundraising activities • Proven experience of working with internal and external agencies and advertisers to ensure projects are delivered • Ability to develop and deliver marketing plans to recruit participants through a number of different channels • Excellent written and face to face communication skills • Able to manage a variety of projects with conflicting priorities • Working with other fundraising teams to deliver diverse activities including events, corporate partnerships and key supporter/customer cultivation activities • Working with teams
It would also be great if you had: • Knowledge of fundraising databases (ideally CARE) • Understanding of the principles of supporter care and volunteer management
