JOB PURPOSE: to support residents to allow them achieve/maintain their independence within the care home.

* SVQ/NVQ 2 or working towards

Support residents as needed with
Personal Hygiene needs.
Dressing/undressing and using the bathroom
Assistance with eating & drinking.
Assisting the residents to develop, maintain and improve skills as detailed in individuals plan of care.
Supervising of residents at mealtimes, or with food/beverages in a manner which is consistent with preferences of individual.
Disposing of waste safely after incontinence. Waste which contains any form of body waste must be disposed of in the appropriate yellow bags in the sluice area.
Moving and Handling of clients must be in line with their plan of care and in line with health & safety regulations.
Report any ill-health amongst Clients to nurse in charge.
Assist trained staff in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individualised care, seeking medical or other interventions as required.
Participate in the evaluation and review of care as and when required.
Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Clients' personal and financial affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with Clients.
Assist in maintaining accurate records and ensure that each Client within the care centre has an individualised Care Plan. Care Plans to be reviewed on a bi-annual basis, or more frequently as and when required, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures and national guidelines.
Advise the person in charge of any incident / accident and status of any Clients whose care / health is causing concern.
Establish and maintain good communication with Residents, Relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
Participate in Staff and resident meetings as required.
Participate in Staff Induction & Training programmes as and when required.
Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
Health & Safety:
Report immediately to the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or another.
Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Care Centre’s Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
Report to the Home Manager, or the Handyperson, any faulty appliances, damaged
furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
Promote safe working practice within the Care Centre.
Adhere to all appropriate guidelines / regulations, and provide written evidence of such
adherence upon request from Line Management.
Ensure the security of the Care Centre is maintained at all times.
Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
