Our South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub supports people aged 18 and over who are living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, heart failure and lung disease. We provide Hospice at Home care in the community.
About the Role
We are looking to recruit a full time experienced Occupational Therapist to join the South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub. Our multi-disciplinary team cares for patients in the community and the OT role is dynamic and varied due to it being integral to the hospice at home service, supporting patients to remain at home for their end of life care. The main focus will be to provide holistic assessment and intervention including rapid response. You will also have the opportunity to participate in Day services currently running via zoom.
Candidates will be able to develop their competency, skills and theoretical knowledge within specialist palliative care by undertaking further training. The successful candidate will support the education and training for the team in providing the moving and handling aspect of our mandatory training requirements and advice regarding falls management. They will have excellent communication skills and have a genuine interest in palliative care, along with the ability to work well within a team but also autonomously when required.
You will be provided with both clinical and professional supervision and have access to AHP support networks across the national Sue Ryder Organisations.
This role will suit an experienced practitioner with a broad knowledge base and experience of working in a wide variety of clinical fields who wishes to specialise in the field of palliative rehabilitation. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of palliative care interventions, strong communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to work well within a close multi-disciplinary team.
• Full driving license. • Highly specialist knowledge and application of therapy assessments and interventions using complex level clinical reasoning • Post graduate experience in palliative care/community settings • Experience of evidence based practice and outcome measures • Motivational skills and goal setting for personalised care • An ability to work autonomously and to set own and others’ priorities • An ability to confidently assess and manage risk in relation to therapist/therapy service performance • Excellent advanced communication skills • Evidence of relevant postgraduate courses • EDGE Qualification or equivalent - desirable.

• Diploma / BSC (Hons) in Occupational Therapy (OT) • Registered with Health and Care Professionals Council • Current registration with Professional Body e.g. BAOT • Member of a Professional Specialist Interest Group e.g. HOPE
