Job Description Summary
Located at the Gloucester site and reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist will demonstrate theoretical and practical competency in driving EHS programmes across the business and to solve problems in a teaming environment. You will be expected to develop and execute on specific projects through self-determination, or as part of a multi-disciplinary team and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term EHS business goals and objectives.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- In support of the EHS team you will be a conduit for EHS advice and support to the business as required;
- Initiate, influence and integrate EHS policies and protocols into business operations and modify where necessary;
- Be responsible for the development of detailed risk assessments and COSHH assessments and communication of hazards/risks and control measures to appropriate stakeholders;
- Preparation and monitoring of business EHS metrics;
- Provide and determine alternative task approaches for issue resolution;
- Work both independently and within a team to complete business added value projects;
- Liaise with contractors, customers and third-party specialists as required;
- Work closely with the Facilities Team for the daily management of contractors and third-party specialists to review risk assessments and method statements to implement safe contractor works on site;
- Maintain knowledge of existing and proposed regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in an Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Studies or related degree with proven "hands-on" experience with EHS management systems in a manufacturing environment or NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety with relevant workplace experience;
- Candidates should be able to demonstrate a sound understanding anddelivery of key EHS programmes including but not limited to Machinery Safety and Guarding, Crane Safety, Hand Arm Vibration risks and Emergency Response and Planning.
