Where does this role fit within Ted’s Team?
The Carrier Manager (UK) will be responsible for strengthening the relationship with all carriers to improve and support every day performance and strive to develop innovative services for our customers and stores and trustees. The Carrier Manager (UK) will focus on a portfolio of carriers. The ultimate goal will be to guarantee a first-class delivery experience for every one of our customers as part of our company DNA, to consistently find ways to optimize cost, deliver the target set every year and to drive innovation to ensure fast and accurate implementation of new delivery solutions. The role will be based out of either our London HQ or our UK DC in Derby reporting directly into the “Head of Supply Chain”. Occasional travel to both sites will be required.

Main responsibilities
• Construct and take accountability for each annual budget for carriage and associated costs.
• Develop & implement improvement measures for cost, performance & customer experience.
• Manage carriage costs to maintain carriage budget forecasts.
• Maintain & control all current parcel carrier contracts across the UK & Europe.
• Rate and Terms negotiation where required.
• Invitation to Tender exercises at regular intervals.
• Management of performance/SLA metrics within the contract.
• Benchmarking to ensure we provide the best service in the marketplace.
• Be proactive in approach towards customers in the event of advance notice of any potential issues.
• Own & maintain the mechanic between systems/operations to ensure the speediest and most efficient delivery for the customer.
• Show infinite enthusiasm for continuously improving how the business operates and what can be done logistically for the benefits of our customers.
• Be able to analyse, define and map business processes to recommend improvements that can be made at a strategic and work floor level to either.
• Work cross functionally across the business channels to deliver change management where required
• Supporting teams in providing cost options and service solutions
• Be the escalation point in the UK for all carrier queries from either the customer or the wider business.
• Implement carrier related projects. Support both project teams and carriers in other carrier related projects.
• Distribute the analysis of monthly carrier performance reporting, comprising a variety of performance metrics.
• Build strong working relationships with transport service providers.
• Maintain the carrier’s delivery schedules and peak planning at local level.
• Update and maintain the carriers routing configuration which include transit times and volumes changes.
• Prepare and execute regional specific peak plans.
• Manage returns propositions across multiple business channels
• Understand and maintain customs warehouse related processes to ensure boarding of new carriers meet customs warehouse compliance.

• Experience of the UK carrier market.
