We are currently seeking Pouch Assistants/Packers to join our team. Our pouch assistants work with our Pouch Operators to support the production of our flexible packaging pouches and are responsible for quality checking and packing those pouches for shipment to the customer.
Our Pouch Assistants work 6am - 4pm and 4pm - 2am Monday to Thursday. Alternating between earlies and lates every two weeks.
Enhancements are paid for working lates and for any authorised overtime worked.
Base Hourly Rate is £9 per hour, shift and overtime enhancements apply
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure personal compliance with all company Quality System, Operational, and Human Resource policies, procedures, and practices, including safety and housekeeping procedures.
Assist Pouch Operator with pouch machine
Check pouch quality continually during production run
Inform Pouch Operator of any defective material, maintenance issues and safety issues
Prepare proper equipment and secondary packaging (boxes, pallets, labels, etc) necessary for production jobs based on the production schedule
Package finished product at one of several workstations as assigned
Make and record packing labels as required by the Work Order.
Support the correct set up and running of the machine to expedite quality and run speed
Maintain production standard of quality and effective run rate
Follow established material handling procedure
Follow all instructions on work order and S.O.P.
Maintain quality control check sheet, and production and waste reports
Support the cleaning and maintenance of equipment in preparation for next production run
Make recommendations to supervision and management for improvement of production in terms of efficiency and workflow
Support the changing of rolls and cut out splices
Quality Control checks and data entry
Trash and trim removal
Observe safety rules.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Could be asked to support other parts of the operations including press assistant, slitting, and lamination

Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions

Strong verbal communications skills
Visual acuity to color consistency
Manual coordination and dexterity
Ability to use basic hand tools
Manual coordination and dexterity while utilising hand tools, cleaning equipment
Be able to work safely around operating machinery
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Basic knowledge of flexible packaging films advantageous
Must be flexible in work schedule.
