This research business is growing steadily and there’s a need to employ more staff who will participate in the research and analysis of retail companies in Europe, Australia and Asia; and effectively communicate insights with an editorial team.
Working with other members of the team, the role is to research retail companies and the individuals who work there, contributing to the database ecosystem of the InternetRetailing UK and Europe Top500 reports. Furthermore, the role entails the analysis of data – both a creative and quantitative task. The apprentice’s involvement in data analysis will increase vis-a-vis research as his or her skills progress.
The role includes learning and applying best-practice database maintenance, including the continuous development of procedures and systems to verify accuracy, assess coverage relative to other databases; and, to the full extent possible, automating these processes. The successful candidate would regularly brief the Senior Researcher on progress and would be required to collaborate with other staff on shared projects.
We are a broad team producing market-leading competitive analysis of retail companies in the UK and Europe; and, from time to time, the Research Intern may be required to perform other roles within the department. Communication skills are highly valued and the role provides opportunities for the intern to develop these skills when relating the insights of his or her analyses.

Browsing company websites Using off-the-shelf and custom software to scrape and monitor websites (training provided) Searching LinkedIn, Twitter, and other online resources Recording details in a spreadsheet or database program (training provided) Helping build and maintain the internal taxonomy of retailers
