If you have specialist knowledge in a subject, and teaching comes to you naturally, a career in further education could be a rewarding one for you. You could be teaching the subject of your specialization, (be it English, Mathematics, Sciences or any other standard or vocational course) at a college or university, vocational college, a community education Centre or at an education Centre for adults or young adults with learning, behavioral, or social difficulties. You would be meeting and teaching people from a variety of cultural and socio economic backgrounds and it would be expected that you understand their specific needs. While at most colleges and universities you would be working standard day-time hours, at some educational facilities you may be required to take evening or weekend classes to accommodate the working hours and other needs of your students. Several further education courses need you to cover a certain amount of work within a stipulated time a semester, quarter, or over a certain number of weeks, and it is important that you can manage your time well while still ensuring that your students are interested, enthused and understand the various topics well.
