An office temp is someone who works for a company on a temporary basis. They would only have a contract for a certain period of time and would expect to leave the business after the allotted time is up. They can also be called "contractual" "casual" or "seasonal" (ie summer or Christmas) staff. They can work full or part-time this will generally be specified in their contract, - though they can also be expected to be flexible in terms of their hours.

On the other hand, many temps can go on to be full permanent members of staff, if they perform well in the position.
