From dog-friendly offices to pawternity leave, companies are picking up on the benefits of our four-legged friends. At Adzuna, we have taken a look at the best companies to work for if you want to spend your days surrounded by dogs in the office. After all, who doesn’t want to work in a dog-friendly office?

Google

Google is well known for being a fun place to work, with plenty of perks, but did you know that the company has dog-friendly offices? The multinational company has four main offices in London alone and in three of them, you will find plenty of dogs.

The offices have dog walls of fame, filled with photos of the furry friends who regularly visit the office. In fact, dogs are so welcome in the office that some of the company’s printers are named after the Dooglers (that’s dog Googlers!) If you’re looking for a pick-me-up, check out this blog dedicated to the Dooglers, which includes their likes and dislikes!

Where is the most dog-friendly place in the UK?

Wondering where to live if you want to work alongside dogs? A study has been done by Brother on the most dog-friendly locations in the UK, based on the number of dog-friendly offices per capita. Manchester took the top spot, with 12.39 dog-friendly offices per 100,000 people. The other most dog-friendly locations were Brighton, Edinburgh, London, and Exeter.

Benefits of a dog-friendly office

There are tons of perks of working in a dog-friendly office. The top one is of course the chance to play and cuddle with cute dogs in your free time! Ultimately, dogs offer social support, by helping to reduce stress and anxiety in employees. Dog-friendly offices increase office morale and by having less burned-out staff, the company will ultimately benefit.

It has also been proven that dog-friendly offices often improve collaboration and work relationships. Dogs are a great talking point and can encourage employees from various teams to interact with each other. After all, most people have to stop and stroke a cute dog!

Weirdly enough, dog-friendly offices improve productivity and creativity. Employees often feel more relaxed with dogs around, encouraging them to be more creative. The benefit of being able to take short breaks for walking the dog shouldn’t be ignored either. Taking short breaks, such as dog walks, can do wonders for people’s focus.

If you’re dog-obsessed, it is worth taking a look at some dog-friendly companies. Companies are looking for new and innovative ways to entice employees back to the office and creating dog-friendly offices is a perk that is increasing in popularity. With 3.2 million households in the UK acquiring a new pet since the start of the pandemic, the perk of dog-friendly offices is expected to be advertised more and more.
