About Prepper
What is Prepper?
Prepper is an AI interview coach that helps jobseekers prepare their job interviews with confidence. Based on information from the job ad, Prepper generates questions likely to be asked as well as coaching them on how best to respond. Precisely, the tool assesses and scores candidates’ answers, reviews each response against the skills and requirements being sought by the employer and provides bespoke feedback to help candidates improve.

How does Prepper work?
A quick peek under the hood! Adzuna’s data science team used advanced machine learning and over 10 years of labour market data to break new ground in natural language processing. Prepper is built on a large language model (LLM), using in-built prompts to generate and review interview questions and model answers.
Who uses Prepper?
Jobseekers, regardless of their seniority, can use Prepper to gather interview questions for the roles they applied for, receive expert and instant feedback on their answers, and learn top-scoring answers written by Prepper.
Meanwhile, Prepper is an equally helpful tool for recruiters and hiring managers to prep interview questions for their open roles.
What is the difference between Prepper UK and Prepper US?
While the UK and US version has a similar user interface, we recommend jobseekers sticking to the country where they are applying for a job for optimal use.
Designed specifically for UK-based jobseekers, Prepper UK is powered by 10 years of training data collected on adzuna.co.uk. Meanwhile, Prepper US is trained with data collected on adzuna.com, making it realistic to simulate interviews for any job at any company in the country.
Is Prepper free?
It’s completely free of charge – just like our previous salary estimation tool Jobsworth, and ValueMyCV, our clever AI tool that helps you know your worth based on your CV so you can get paid fairly, as well as checking your CV for any errors. There are no logins, no email sign-ups, and no ads. You can use Prepper as often as you like, as Prepper does not enforce any daily limits on requests. At Adzuna, our goal is to help jobseekers zero in on the right role easier and faster.
Is Prepper available on mobile devices too?
Yes! Prepper is compatible with all mobile devices, whether you are an Android or iPhone user. Tablets are supported as well.
Does Prepper support languages other than English?
Currently, Prepper only supports the English language. Since Adzuna operates in 20 countries across the globe, we may consider developing a localised version of Prepper for different languages in the future, depending on the interest.
Prepper features & tips
What is Pirate mode?
Pirate mode represents the unexpected and tricky scenarios that sometimes happen in interviews. Prepper’s AI interviewer Captain Jack will be asking you off-the-wall questions that might have nothing to do with your ability to handle the role but are nonetheless important. Your response to these brain teaser questions demonstrates how quickly you can think on your feet and how you cope when you are in a difficult situation. The pirate mode is a good way to practise staying calm under pressure.
How do I choose between Easy, Hard, and Pirate mode?
Picking the right interviewer will determine how challenging your questions will be and your interviewer’s tone.
Choose “Easy” mode for your first round of interviews, or if you just need a warm up exercise. It’s suitable for screening interviews and introductory interviews with recruiters or HR. Prepper’s AI rep Bob will be asking you five standard and classic interview questions for your role.
If you choose “Hard” mode, be prepared to get some curveball and in-depth questions from our AI rep Kate. The hard mode can help you tackle competency-based, skill-based, and behaviourial questions with your potential line managers and colleagues. It’s particularly useful for jobseekers who have been invited back by an employer for a second or third round interview.
Pirate mode represents the unexpected and tricky scenarios that sometimes happen in interviews. Prepper’s AI interviewer Captain Jack will be asking you off-the-wall questions that might have nothing to do with your ability to handle the role but are nonetheless important. Corporations like Google and Apple are known for asking open-ended interview questions. The pirate mode is a good way to practise staying calm under pressure and rehearse your responses to brain teaser questions.
What is the feedback score?
Prepper rates your answer to interview questions out of 100. Your score tells you how concise and convincing your answer is. In most cases, you should aim for a score of 75/100 or higher.
Why should you enter the job description and company name of your applied role?
Feeding Prepper with information found in a job ad can improve its accuracy and make the whole process more personalised. With this data, Prepper has a better understanding of the job scope of your potential job, as well as the specific skills, qualification, and personality your interviewer might be looking for. It can therefore score you based on how your answer matches the job description.
Can I directly take Prepper’s model answer for my actual interview?
Yes, you can! Simply click “Export your questions” on the question page and you can copy and paste the questions and answers to any medium desired. While Prepper doesn’t give out cookie-cutter answers, we do recommend doing some final edits, and adding a bit of personal touch to make your answers more authentic.
Got an interview scheduled next week? It’s definitely worth trying Prepper to get ready.
