Are you content with your newfound work-from-home lifestyle — going for a run before work, drafting monthly reports in your pyjama bottoms and sipping fresh homemade coffee? Imagine drafting the same report in the same pyjamas but also getting to run along the Amalfi Coast in Italy in the morning, grabbing a cup of caffè and maybe even a gelato afterwards to kickstart your day.
In 2022, this is not an urban legend. Working from home has become the norm over the past few years and digital nomads are no longer a rare breed. We’ve spotted a new and exciting remote working trend that employers are opting for to lure the best talent: Work from anywhere.
In this article, we explain why working from anywhere will be replacing working from home. We also reveal the top 10 sectors offering ‘work from anywhere’ jobs. Start adding dreamy locations to your bucket list!

What is ‘Work from anywhere’?
As its name suggests, work from anywhere is a new way of remote working where employees can complete their tasks in any desired location. It could be the physical office, their home, cafés, co-working spaces, and even vacation spots!
The trend is potentially fuelled by the removal of Covid-19 travel restrictions globally and a strong rebound in international tourism. According to ONS data, UK residents made 5.6 million visits overseas in April 2022. Comparably, there were just 260,000 visits by air in April 2021.
We’ve also seen a rise in countries inviting in international workers by offering digital nomad visas, making working from anywhere even easier.

Work from anywhere is hot
Our data has discovered that more UK employers are offering this remote working perk to their employees this year. April 2022 saw the highest number of ‘work from anywhere’ job ads. There were more than 2,000 ‘work from anywhere’ vacancies, 412% higher than the same time last year.
Sadly, as the cost of living crisis deepens, hiring has cooled slightly since April, which has dragged its growth. That said, the number and proportion of ‘work from anywhere’ job vacancies within the period remained significantly stronger than in 2021, meaning this trend is here to stay.
In September 2022, there were 1,034 ‘work from anywhere’ vacancies, a 48% year-on-year increase. The proportion of these job openings rose from 0.06% in 2021 to 0.09%.
Similar travel perks such as sabbatical programmes are gaining popularity among employers too. Currently, close to 2,000 vacancies featuring employee sabbatical programmes are currently on offer, and nearly a third of them are paid.
